This book is about 2/3 stories, that are most entertaining, and 1/3 recipes. It even gave interesting facts about history. I had the opportunity to obtain an early copy of the book at a book signing dinner held at Sanford restaurant. An interesting and delightful book which I bought as a gift for a friend with whom I have shared a number of special occasions at Sandy D'Amato's fabulous restaurant "Sanfords" in Milwaukee WI. Sandy D'Amato is a hugely gifted chef and restaurateur, but he is a gifted writer that incorporates a great deal of humor into his writing. Sanford 'Sandy' D'Amato, one of the greatest American chefs of the past 30 years, is a man who does not get half the credit he deserves. The biography part is actually fascinating, mixing in personal stories and anecdotes while illustrating the ups and downs of being a chef around the world. (Never heard of those people? You will.)The latter part of the book is the treatise, the call to action, the good ol' fashioned Rebel Yell (if he'll pardon the expression) calling you and I to stop being merely observers of the world and be engagers. A particularly enjoyable facet of the book is that use of a telephoto lens has been largely eschewed, leaving a series of scenes that the enterprising tourist can fAlong the way, he details his early years, working with Matt Drudge, the Huffington Post, and so on, and how Breitbart developed his unique style of launching key websites to help get the word out to conservatives all over. More recently, Congressman Anthony Weiner took on Breitbart, claiming that scurrilous photos of Weiner were being sent on the internet by the conservative right. Breitbart is convinced that too many national stories are slanted by the news media in an unfair way.
