The book is a brief 50 pages long and the level of depth it goes to is very shallow. I didn't know this was a true story at the time because I was so young, but this story sticks with me. A great Christmas gift!D'Amato's experiences with Julia Child were entertaining and Chef D'Amato is not only a good story teller but one of the most outstanding chefs in America. I bought the book when it dropped, but only got a chance to read it now. As he said, if you do not know the background and thought behind a recipe, it really isn't the same.Yes it is a cook book, with recipes that most good cooks could make, but it is just a good read and a way of getting into the head of one of the most accomplished and respected chefs that exist.. Also, great price.. In 1998 I'd seen a photo on a calendar of the Vermillion Cliffs in Utah, but had no idea where exactly it was located. They are all short stories (2-3 pages) that you can pick up and read anytime.. Only some of the book loaded on to my device..
