The book is a brief 50 pages long and the level of depth it goes to is very shallow. I didn't know this was a true story at the time because I was so young, but this story sticks with me. The book is a brief 50 pages long and the level of depth it goes to is very shallow. I didn't know this was a true story at the time because I was so young, but this story sticks with me. And it is massive.. The Chicken Soup For The Soul series is by far one of the best literary experiences I have enjoyed as well as a life-altering experience for the reader. A great Christmas gift!D'Amato's experiences with Julia Child were entertaining and Chef D'Amato is not only a good story teller but one of the most outstanding chefs in America. I bought the book when it dropped, but only got a chance to read it now. As he said, if you do not know the background and thought behind a recipe, it really isn't the same.Yes it is a cook book, with recipes that most good cooks could make, but it is just a good read and a way of getting into the head of one of the most accomplished and respected chefs that exist.. Also, great price.. In 1998 I'd seen a photo on a calendar of the Vermillion Cliffs in Utah, but had no idea where exactly it was located. They are all short stories (2-3 pages) that you can pick up and read anytime.. Only some of the book loaded on to my device.. I have started to make the kokeshi dolls in it.You don't have to read Japanese to follow the directions and the results are great.

Sent at a young age to live with her grandmother in Arkansas, Angelou learned a great deal from this exceptional woman and the tightly knit black community there. Marvelously told, with Angelou's "gift for language and observation," this "remarkable autobiography by an equally remarkable black woman from Arkansas captures, indelibly, a world of which most Americans are shamefully ignorant." . In this first of five volumes of autobiography, poet Maya Angelou recounts a youth filled with disappointment, frustration, tragedy, and finally hard-won independence. Louis and her formative years spent in California--where an unwanted pregnancy changed her life forever. These very lessons carried her throughout the hardships she endured later in life, including a tragic occurrence while visiting her mother in St

Here is a book as joyous and painful, as mysterious and memorable, as childhood itself. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings captures the longing of lonely children, the brute insult of bigotry, and the wonder of words that can make the world right. Years later, in San Francisco, Maya learns that love for herself, the kindness of others, her own strong spirit, and the ideas of great authors (“I met and fell in love with William Shakespeare”) will allow her to be free instead of imprisoned.

Poetic and powerful, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings will touch hearts and change minds for as long as people read.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings liberates the reader into life simply because Maya Angelou confronts her own life with such a moving wonder, such a luminous dignity.”—James Baldwin. Maya Angelou’s debut memoir is a modern American classic beloved worldwide.

Sent by their mother to live with their devout, self-sufficient grandmother in a small Southern town, Maya and her brother, Bailey, endure the ache of abandonment and
